How to Sign "Thanksgiving" in American Sign Language (ASL)
Place your dominant hand near your chin, fingers spread wide and thumb touching, then arc it forward and down. This simple motion combines two ideas - thanking and giving - to create the ASL sign for "thanksgiving." For the holiday itself, you can do this movement and then add the sign for "holiday" by making Y-shapes with both hands and moving them side to side. The sign shows how important being thankful is to both American and Deaf communities. You'll see people use this sign during Thanksgiving, in church, and whenever they want to show they're really grateful.
