In ASL, "outside" is signed by extending both hands with palms facing up, then moving them outward and away from the body in a sweeping motion. The sign shows open space. When talking about going outside or being outside, signers can change the movement a bit to match what they mean. This basic sign comes up all the time when people chat about weather or activities. The movement looks just like what it means.
