How to Sign "Later" in American Sign Language (ASL)
In ASL, "later" is signed by extending your dominant hand with palm facing up, then moving it forward and slightly upward in an arc motion. You can change how big the movement is to show different times - small for "soon" or big for "much later." The sign came from thinking about how time moves forward into the future. People use it a lot in everyday talks, mainly when saying goodbye or setting up plans. The movement can be done more carefully to make it formal, or you can add time words to be more clear. When you want to say "see you later," you do the signs for "see" and "you" with it.
