In American Sign Language (ASL), the sign for "brother" uses two gestures. First, make an "L" shape with your dominant hand. Extend your thumb and index finger. Place your thumb on your forehead, palm facing out. Then, move your hand down to rest on your other hand. Your non-dominant hand is also in an "L" shape. It should be in front of your chest. This sign shows the idea of a male sibling. The forehead touch means "male." The movement down means "sibling." ASL uses space and movement to show ideas. This sign is used in many settings. You can use it when talking about your brother or family.
