How to Sign "Son" in American Sign Language (ASL)
In ASL, "son" is signed by making a fist with your dominant hand, extending your thumb, and tapping it twice on your forehead near your temple. The sign comes from mixing the male sign with a family sign. The location at the forehead shows it's a male sign in ASL, and the tapping shows it's about family. When talking about "my son" or "his son," people just add a word to show who owns before making the sign for son.
