In ASL, "shoes" is signed by tapping your dominant fist twice on top of your non-dominant palm, as if hitting the heel of a shoe. Both hands are held flat. This sign copies the movement of tapping shoes on the ground or fixing your shoes to make them fit better. The sign looks like what it means. You can change the sign to show different kinds of shoes by adding other signs before or after it, like "high heels," "sneakers," or "boots." People use this sign a lot when talking about clothes, shopping, or getting dressed.
