How to Sign "See" in American Sign Language (ASL)

In ASL, "see" is signed by extending your index and middle fingers together (V-shape), starting near your eyes and moving them forward. The sign looks like sight coming from your eyes, making it easy to remember. Moving the sign faster means "saw quickly," while doing it slower shows you're watching something carefully. When you want to say "understand," you make the same sign but move your fingers from your eyes to the side of your head. This basic sign is used all the time in ASL, and new learners often learn it first because it makes sense and everyone uses it a lot.
