How to Sign "Cold" in American Sign Language (ASL)
In ASL, "cold" is signed by making two "C" handshapes and shivering them in front of your upper body. The sign copies how people shake when they feel cold. You can also make fists and shake them by your chest while making a cold face, which many people find easier to do. The strength of the shaking shows how cold it is. This sign works for both real cold things like weather and ice, and for when someone is sick with a cold. People use a different sign when they want to say someone has a cold personality.
