The sign for "basketball" is made with curved-3-hands, as if throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court. Some people do the "basketball" sign with "5" handshapes instead. This simple sign copies the real movements you make when playing basketball. Everyone in the Deaf community knows and uses this sign, whether they're just chatting about sports or teaching in a classroom.
